Responsive to change
Being a freelance language consultant, I mainly do in-company General or Business English teaching on a one-to-one basis or English for Special Purposes in small groups. I rarely have the change to teach exam preparation classes. That said, I have successfully prepared some students for different exams in the past, e.g. FCE, British Institutes, IELTS, TOEIC, and you just never know when the next student will come knocking on your door. When this happens, it is better not to be caught unawares.
As part of the Teacher Training and Professional Development program for English Teachers in Italy, Cambridge English is organising a workshop/seminar in Brescia, where I am based, offering everyone the opportunity to catch up with the latest changes in Cambridge English: First and Cambridge English: Advanced. The seminar is free of charge.
Although I can think of countless other things to do on an ordinary afternoon, I am not going to miss this chance. I have just rearranged the appointments I had scheduled for Thursday and have registered on line. I am not sure whether it will be a high-powered event, but at least I hope it proves to be worthwhile.
